It's Toronto's Spring Fashion Week 2013. The elite, fashionistas, reporters - including Toronto's Jeannie Becker looking great - were out in full force.
Inspired by pop art from the 60's, Joe Fresh presented an affordable, chic line with bold patterns, chunky healed pumps, white infused tops and pants with touches of bold colour and pattern. There was a ton of white, black and white patters with hits of colours like yellow, silver and cobalt blue. There were ruffled collars, bow blouses, capes and pleated skirts - one is bright yellow that I coveted.
Kudos to Joe Mimran for the 60's party he channeled. It was chic, fun, affordable and full of life - even one "old" model in her 40's! She got a few cheers! I love wearing "high/low" - some high-end items (like my new leather skinny pants from Paris) mixed with some more affordable items. The Joe Fresh Spring 2013 collection certainly delivered in this area! (The only thing I did not love was the men's silver foil windbreaker and shorty shorts. I am not sure we can go there...)
The Montreal-based designer Mackage showed a ton of buttery leather and light leather colours including - warm beige tones, yellow mixed in and mint green.
Unlike in Paris a few weeks ago, where I "reported" on Fashion Week from the streets during their fashion week this month, I had almost front row seats here in Toronto thanks to my design art director friend. I love that Toronto has a vibrant and committed fashion community and the energy was contagious.
