"Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of human meaning" - Maya Angelou
What is YOUR word? What inspires you? What do you desire? What represents you? Is it your mantra for life? Affirmation? Manifesto? Does it focus you? Elevate you? Support you?
I recently took a leap, made a courageous choice and went on a journey. I had the privilege of attending a weekend retreat at a beautiful beach resort in Parksville, BC with a group of 15 amazing women, most of whom were new acquaintances. We came together for an adventure, to escape, connect, celebrate, grow and rejuvenate. We took a break from our families and busy lives. We all shared our unique talents and knowledge to create an extraordinary experience. We ate delicious food, drank lovely wine, enjoyed a glorious beachside morning yoga class and had professional head shots taken. We even danced.
Words were my contribution to this experience. I brought charms that were letter pressed with a hammer onto sterling silver with words. I wanted to share my creative passion of hand stamping meaningful and personalized jewelry. I figured the best way to express my passion was to demonstrate it. I surprised the ladies with a gift.
Each treasure was a beautifully wrapped love letter charm pre-stamped with random, mindful words, including TRUST, FREE, PLAY, LOVE, FAITH, BLISS, CREATE and PEACE.
One by one, each woman blindly chose their stamped charm and read aloud their "word." Then came the shivers, goose-bumps, tears and giggles as each individual expressed the meaning of what their word meant to them. As a group, we continued to share our stories, our lives and our struggles. We were vulnerable and authentic. This is where the passion for my work with Suetables comes from - the people I meet and their stories they share.
This little exercise reinforced my existing belief that there are no accidents or coincidences in life.
Words carry powerful energy and they re-fuel me.

I received a note from one of the retreat participants which read "Your word of the day presentation was inspiring- mine was LOVE. Then came the jewelry...that you put words and meaning, not just beauty and creativity into your work is awesome."
