About Suetables

Suetables is a working jewelry studio. Based in Toronto at 598 Mount Pleasant Road and 363 Roncesvalles Avenue (just launched November 20th, 2017), we design, create and hand stamp meaningful sterling-silver, 10K gold and 14K gold-dipped jewelry. The stores are curated to house both Suetables-branded original jewelry designs, product collaborations with like-minded creators and soulful brands with whom we share a similar philosophy. We carry an assortment of one-of-a-kind and often exclusive items that can only be found in our stores.

In a trend that marries old-age crafting techniques with modern shapes, our Suetables-branded jewelry embodies 'modern craft' - old artisan sensibilities with contemporary graphic shapes, design and texture.

Suetables has been featured in magazines such as Lou Lou, Hello, Today's Bride, the cover of the business section of the Toronto Star and named editor’s pick in Today’s Parent Magazine. In addition to celebrity spottings, Suetables has also been seen in People Magazine, The Cannnes Film Festival, Sweet, City TV, the red carpet at the Gemini Awards, and in newspapers internationally.

welcome to suetables.

It began in 2004 with one goal in mind: to take the moments that make us, the people we hold dear to our hearts, the desire that motivates us, the memories that shape us and put it all into one jewelry brand that lives and breathes beautiful contemporary jewelry. We live to celebrate what you love with beautiful pendants, meaningful gemstones, beads, charms, necklaces, bracelets and more.

The designs incorporate words, charms and symbols to inspire and to celebrate loved ones. Suetables marries modern design with the ancient craft of letter pressing by hand. Each letter or number is hand stamped one at a time. Suetables is designed and crafted with the modern, fearless woman in mind.

Suetables has been seen on stars like Coco Rocha (model), Adelaide Kane (star of Reign), Missy Pregrym (Rookie Blue), Abbey Lee Kershaw (model), Monika Schnarre (model), Rachel Skarsten (50 Shades of Grey, Lost Girl, Reign - now the face of Suetables), Lauren Lee Smith (The Listener), Sara Waisglass (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Enuka Okuma (Rookie Blue) who also had Sue letter press her bridesmaids’ gifts.

For over 10 years, Sue worked in the television industry - director of public relations for the launch of brands like HGTV, Food Network, Health Network and National Geographic, before turning to jewelry design in 2004 as a more personal means of expression. Sue describes her business as something that grew from her, "love of contemporary art, fashion, literature and words.”

Inspired by a letter-pressed vintage knife she saw on the coast of Maine, Sue started hand stamping vintage silver baby spoons and butter knives for gifts. Once she honed her hand-stamping skills, personalizing jewelry was a natural evolution that provided an outlet for her creativity, love of fashion and words. Sue's creations are deeply sentimental with a modern yet nostalgic edge - as hand stamping's font is similar to an old fashioned typewriter. Sue designs are chic, collectable, modern, timeless and meant to be worn anytime, anywhere.

Suetables was Sue's love and hobby than became her full-time job after a few years of listening to clients, improving her craft, designs and travelling to source suppliers in Mexico (Taxco and Polanco), Czech, Thailand and more recently, locally in Canada and the US.

Not just content to dream about faraway places, Sue ensures that travel is a vital aspect of her life and jewelry design. To be creative, Sue believes you have to go where you can relax and take in new sights and experiences. From visiting local art galleries, skiing in St. Anton with her two sons and blended family and exploring the cobblestone streets of Morocco, Vienna, Paris, London, Scotland or Prague to climbing to Machu Picchu, hiking in the Austrian alps and exploring Thailand, Sue is passionate about experiences that stir her imagination Sue also blogs regularly.

All jewelry pictured (except three bracelets) is .925 sterling silver, 9-14K gold or 14K dipped. Eighty percent of the line is original and designed in Toronto, Ontario and made in Taxco, Mexico and Thailand with select items made custom locally in Canada and the US.

Suetables uses expert silversmiths from Taxco - the place where Paloma Picasso, William Spratling and Daniel Espinosa (the most successful Mexican artist) began. There is something about this mysterious hilly town, lined with silversmiths and cobblestone streets that lures founder + designer, Sue Henderson, back time and time again. These are family businesses that she has worked with and visited for more than 10 years.

Items are made with unequaled quality and workmanship in the mountains in Mexico or Thailand. These companies specialize in design and manufacturing of jewelry and silver work, by means of the traditional artisan process that has flourished for the past 70 years. We hope this authenticity reflects in our line.

Devoted to working with the best craftspeople world wide - visited and selected in person by Sue - Suetables is designed, assembled in unique ways and hand stamped in Toronto and by reps across North America. Each pendant is hand stamped one letter at a time. Hand stamping is an art. The look of the piece will vary slightly from the picture shown and stamping may be uneven. This is what makes each Suetables piece special, unique and full of character.

Suetables makes jewelry that respects our natural resources and the craftspeople that produce it. Suetables has worked with the same silver smiths in Taxco, Mexico for more than 12 years., visiting them in person regularly. We strive to work with partners who enforce environmentally safe working conditions and utilize environmentally responsible technologies. Suetables works with small silver houses in Taxco, Mexico who employ local artisans who are dedicated to conserving techniques which are passed on from generation to generation. Our crystal line is certified according to the European Standard EN71 and the American norm ASTM F 963-07. They are also compliant with the International Standard OEKO-TEX 100. From the left over silver scraps, hand-stamped errors and findings, we also recycle it by melting it down and using it again.

Suetables also works with companies to create and design one-of-a kind gifts, key chains and jewelry. We are passionate about working with select not-for-profit organizations, like The Special Olympics, Wildlife Now, Royal African Safaris, SickKids Foundation, The Maddie Project (North York General Hospital) more.
